Vaughn J. Buffalo received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College in Physics and History (1988) and his law degree from Columbia Law School (1993).

Following law school, Mr. Buffalo gained his legal expertise at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison from 1993 to 1996 and at Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw from 1996 to 2000 where he specialized in securities law and corporate transactions.

In early 2000, Mr. Buffalo joined an Internet startup, ebricks.com (which became Cephren, Inc.), as General Counsel and Director of Business Development. After Cephren merged with Bidcom to form Citadon, Inc., Mr. Buffalo joined Brauner, Baron, Rosenzweig & Klein LLP as Of Counsel from 2001 through 2003.

Some of Mr. Buffalo’s corporate/business accomplishments include the following:

• Closing the $600 million acquisition of Oppenheimer by CIBC as well as organizing the simultaneous creation of CIBC World Markets, the full-service investment banking arm of CIBC.
  
  
• Closing the $575 million acquisition of one foreign and four domestic insulation companies and the $275 million senior debt facility to create BSI Holdings, Inc.
  
  
• Conducting the $400 million all-cash hostile tender offer bid by WHX Corp. for Dynamics Corp. of America.
  
  
• Closing the $11 million purchase of two publications from Cahners Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc.
  
  
• Negotiating and closing, as General Counsel of ebricks.com, a $1.5 million transaction with CommerceOne, a publicly traded transaction platform provider.

Some of Mr. Buffalo’s not-for-profit/pro bono accomplishments include the following:

• Receiving the Thurgood Marshall Award (April 1998) in recognition of exemplary service as pro bono counsel to a human being under sentence of death.
  
  
• Sourcing and acting as counsel to the Upper Manhattan Development Corporation as a major pro bono client of Paul, Weiss, including drafting documents to form the Business Resource & Investment Service Center.
  
  
• Being appointed as Chair (1998-2000) and serving as Secretary (1995-1997) of the Thurgood Marshall Summer Law Internship Program of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and increasing enrollment in the program by 20%.
